Equitas Academy #3 Week 1

Sometimes I forget I’m training for New York. Probably because my mind has been on this…FullSizeRender (57)Teachers have FINALLY started their four weeks of professional development at Equitas. Here I am introducing myself to the staff first thing Monday morning.

I am so impressed with our staff. They are so smart, passionate, hard working, and eager to learn. It’s been a physically and mentally exhausting week, but one where I felt so much gratitude for the work that I do, and the people I get to interact with. I don’t think it’s normal to work with people who all have incredible stories of what drew them to education, and what keeps them motivated to keep working in this challenging profession. It wasn’t all serious work. We had some fun. Here we are during our community scavenger hunt.

More points for meditating in Lafayette Park.

FullSizeRender_1 copyThursday night we hosted at Elevate Party. Joan’s on Third catered at Kelli’s beautiful house in Highland Park. 11893817_10104518434762323_137293531571325555_oFullSizeRender copy 3FullSizeRender (58)

A trip to Highland Park requires a stop at Donut Friend. Yes, the coconut bacon was awesome.

Mama and Papa even stopped by Equitas before road tripping up to Monterey.

And of course had to take pictures of my outside the building.

IMG_20150812_102252So yeah, running wasn’t #1 on the priority list, which was fine because I had just done this…. IMG_1370 Yay for free photos. Another pro for this race. Marta, thanks for the reminder to change my PR on my site 🙂 IMG_1369

We celebrated last Sunday at Simzy’s in Venice with this…

Oh beautiful Venice.

FullSizeRender copy 2We did run 18 miles yesterday as part of our training, and split it up with 10 miles with the Back on My Feet 10 miler on the boardwalk, followed by RunMDR’s Saturday group run. It was perfect timing, but a STRANGE route. Averaged about a 8:30 for the run, and recovered at Lululemon this morning. FullSizeRender_2 copyMy favorite part of the RunMDR route. Running along the canals of Venice.  FullSizeRender_1Long runs require lots of refueling. Thanks Wurstkuche 🙂

And makes me feel good about being lazy by the pool.

Short and sweet because I have 10000 things to do before school tomorrow, but when your baby sister begs you for a post, you have to deliver 🙂  Hoping to get into a new running routine, and will share what I come up with next time!
